Roads were Made for Journeys Not Destinations

Today I was reliving my journey through Fredericksburg VA on our way to take a break from the snow and work from a warmer climate. Some may say the highway view is ugly, boring but I don’t see that. There is just something about being on the road, the freedom to pick up and move, see new things, and appreciate the differences in the world around me. Since this trip I was the passenger on this three day tour I took a Skillshare class on iPhone Photography by Dale McManus and started testing these skills immediately! It opened my eyes to composition, lighting and using the ultrawide and zoom lenses. McManus suggests after taking the photo using Adobe Lightroom to edit, I will talk about this app more because now I am using it for all my photos.

Studying this photo, this moment in time I knew it would be perfect for this quote by Confucius, “Roads were made for Journeys Not Destinations”. Today is not about the destination we may have set it is about how we travel through this thing called life. I have learned there are going to be a lot of bumps along the way, especially through the Pennsylvania and South Carolina Roads:), but they come and go. There is so much beauty in everything around us, the people, nature, and the open road so take time to enjoy!

Here are my highlights!

What I learned this week – Skillshare class iPhone Photography by Dale McManus. Well worth the 55 minutes! Easy to follow and I have definitely become better at taking photos, and at the cusp of calling myself a beginner photographer.

How I was creative this week – iPhone Photography! Took photos from different angles, I was the one at the rest stop walking the dog and squatting to see from a pups point of view! I used all my lenses, wide, normal and zoom and then took the next step to edit, crop and enhance. Too much fun!

Quote of the week – “Roads were made for Journeys Not Destinations” ~ Confucius. The open road is full of possibilities, new experiences and new people.

What I listened to this week – I have become an avid podcast listener lately and the latest one I have been binging is The Goal Digger Podcast by Jenna Kutcher. She has over 500 episodes so I have been jumping around to different episodes to grab some inspiration for finding alignment in work and life (always a struggle), learning new ideas (using Canva for vision board and turned it into my phone/iPad wallpaper) and productivity hacks (using my alarm for an important task and then when the alarm rings stop whatever I am doing and complete that task). I have pulled a little nugget of knowledge from each episode, try it!

App/s I have explored – Adobe Lightroom – There a a ton of preset filters to start with categorized by travel, landscape, portraits, black and white, retro and more. Then you can really fine tune and adjust coloring, lighting and detail. I spent a lot of time testing and playing with all of the options on my iPhone, iPad and laptop.
